PEN, INDIA INK – 2023
Kim IlJoon is a friend who I’ve gotten to know through his annual treks to Gary Con every winter. We were discussing a piece of line art I had done of a DragonLance character, back in the ‘80s. It was a popular piece: A portrait of Lord Gunthar, with his rose-encrusted chest plate and winged helmet. IlJoon was thinking of requesting a commission, but couldn’t decide if he’d prefer a dragon piece, or a knight in armor, like that of Lord Gunthar. I said, “Why not both?” His eyes lit up and here is the result!
